Exodus 24:28
“...the Ten Commandments."
Out of all the laws God commanded humans to obey, the famous Ten Commandments have to be one of the most important (and most famous) set of commands God has ever given to humanity. But what exactly are the Ten Commandments and what makes them so special?
The Ten Commandments are a set of ten special commands/laws God gave first before any other command. They were the very first words and commands God spoke to all of Israel when making a very important covenant with them in Exodus 20. They were so important in this covenant that they were considered the main conditions of this covenant and were even written on a stone tablet by God himself:
Exodus 24:28
“Moses was there with the Lord...And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.”
in fact, it is the covenant himself:
Deuteronomy 5:12-13
“...the Lord spoke to you out of the fire…He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments..."
Obviously these first ten commands from God were very important. Of course, all the commands God commanded to Israel were important, but these first commands were obviously extremely important: so much so that they were considered the main part of this covenant!
So obviously the Ten Commandments are some pretty important laws to God that he wants humans to obey:
Deuteronomy 5:12-13
“...the Ten Commandments, which he command...[s] you to follow..."
So, what are the Ten Commandments God commanded?
